My Week 5 Recap

Week 5 is in the books, and the bye weeks have begun. This week, the Niners surprise, the Jets have internal issues, the Bills rebound, and Tebow-mania fires up. Here we go.

Week 5 Power Rankings:

32. Miami Dolphins-Sage Rosenfels should have had a 1-hr ESPN special to announce he was going to Miami.
31. St Louis Rams-They get an extra week to prepare for Green Bay. They need an extra year.
30. Indianapolis Colts-Somebody apparently reminded them they needed to "suck for Luck" at halftime.
29. Jacksonville Jaguars-Maurice Jones-Drew really really deserves a raise.
28. Denver Broncos-Great, ESPN will have wall-to-wall Tebow coverage now, or maybe ESPN4-the Tebow Network.
27. Arizone Cardinals-The entire team got trucked by AP.
26. Minnesota Vikings-Finally put a team away, although it was Arizona, so..you know.
25. Kansas City Chiefs-Nice comeback win, but it was Indy, so..you know.
24. Cleveland Browns-Not a good bye week, with Hillis drama and Bernard pulling a Roethlisberger on a bike.
23. Carolina Panthers-Cam keeps them in every game, but can't pull the wins out.
22. Philadelphia Eagles-The Dream Team is in complete disarray.
21. Seattle Seahawks-An impressive win on the road.
20. Chicago Bears-Between the false starts, and the attempts on Jay Cutler's life, the offensive line should be ashamed of themselves.
19. Atlanta Falcons-Came out on fire, then fell apart.
18. Cincinnati Bengals-If the offense can become consistent, they're in the playoff hunt.
17. Dallas Cowboys-Who knew? The bye week was the best way to gain ground in the standings.
16. New York Jets-Internal issues are a bigger concern than they way they played Sunday.
15. Tennessee Titans-Got jacked by a Steelers team with something to prove.
14. New York Giants-That's the Eli we all know and love.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Yikes!
12. Houston Texans-Mario Williams is done for the year, and Andre Johnson is still out. Not a good time to run into Baltimore.
11. Pittsburgh steelers-That's one way to silence critics.
10. Oakland Raiders-Emotional win for the Raiders.
 9. Washington Redskins-If the Redskins make the playoffs, Rex Grossman is a shooin for comeback POY.
 8. San Francisco 49ers-I'm shocked to be putting them up here. Mike Singletary must have been even worse than I thought.
 7. San Diego Chargers-Chargers fans must be confused by the 4-1 record.
 6. Buffalo Bills-OK, I admit, I thought last week would start a Buffalo dropoff. I was wrong.
 5. Baltimore Ravens-They get a weakened Houston team, followed by  2 patsies to warm up for the Pittsburgh rematch.
 4. New Orleans Saints-Brees does it again, but one of these close games will eventually bite them.
 3. New England Patriots-Tom Brady with only 1 TD? What a bum.
 2. Detroit Lions-Calvin Johnson only scores once, and is only on pace for around 28 TDs now.
 1. Green Bay Packers-The loss of Clifton hurts, but Rodgers keeps putting up the numbers.

MVPs of the Week:

Ben Roethlisberger-I think this might have been an answer to the critics.
Adrian Peterson-3 TDs...in the 1st quarter. Good game plan.
Matt Cassel-Led a nice comeback, though aided by the ridiculous Bowe catch.
Benjarvis Green-Ellis-Big day against the Jets defense.

Goats of the week:

Bears offensive line-That was as bad a performance by a line as I've ever seen.
Michael Vick-4 INTs and the QB of an underachieving team.
The entire Tampa Bay team-No comment even needed here.
Marcus Bernard-What an idiot.

Random Thoughts:

1. If Tebow wins next week, ESPN will become even more unwatchable.
2. OK Cam, I admit, I was wrong.
3. Can we take bets on which happens first: Cutler gets hurt, or kicks one of his linemen in the sack.
4. Good to see Eli turning it over 4 times. His good play was confusing me.
5. I almost picked Heyward-Bey up on my fantasy team, but decided against it.  Good job me.
6. RIP Al Davis.
