SuperJorts

The 2011 NCAA Tournament has been awesome to say the least.  There have been moments that made my jaw drop, my head hurt, my blood pressure rise, and my feet dance.  From Morehead State's heroics, to Pitt and Butler's series of unfortunate events, to Kemba Walker's continued ownership of everybody, it has been exciting.  My favorite play of the tourney so far, though, wasn't a buzzer-beater.  It wasn't a blocked shot, or a bad call, or a rim-shaking dunk.  It didn't even show up as a stat, but to me it was just as monumental.  It occurred in the first half of the game that saw my Kentucky Wildcats taking on the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes.  The Buckeyes were almost a unanimous pick and the question seemed to be, not whether OSU would win, but by how much.  The Cats were led by 3 freshmen and a big man who couldn't even get on the floor last year.  Ohio State boasted a big man considered to be a top player in the country, and a top 3 draft pick in the NBA.  What chance did Josh Harrellson, who played less than 100 minutes all of last year, have against a force like that?  The answer came in the form of a fastball, directly into Sullinger's chest.  Then, as my mouth gaped open, there was no apology, no remorse, just intensity from the one they call Jorts, as he showed he was not backing down from anybody.  I got goosebumps.  Sullinger looked shocked, but Harrellson had fire in his eyes, and played the rest of the game the same way, leading to the final minute, when, with the game on the line, Sullinger tried to make a big shot, only to have Jorts ride him out of bounds, and see his shot hit the side of the backboard.  Then, when the buzzer sounded, there was the big fella, in the middle of the court, eyes still blazing, looking ready to take on all comers.  So, bring on North Carolina, and Tyler Zeller, and John Henson.  They have tons of talent, tons of size, and lots of hype.  Harrellson will be there, ready to put the team on his broad shoulders again, and try to carry them to a Final Four.  The Heels will be tough, and it will be a good game, but either way, I have a bit of advice for the Carolina big men.  Watch out for fastballs.
